Welcome to another beautiful spring in spectacular Traverse City. After months with mountains of snow surrounding us it is difficult to think of warming temperatures, but we’d like to mention heartworm awareness. Pretty soon those pesky biting insects, like the mosquito, will be back.
Mosquitoes carry the heartworm larvae that can infect our dogs and cats with a single bite. In recent years there has been an increase in heartworm infections and a decrease in availability of treatment options for our pets if they become infected with heartworm.
It is important to keep your dogs and cats on a monthly heartworm preventative and have routine heartworm tests performed as recommended by your veterinarian. Please feel free to call our office and inquire about our April special.
We at the Animal Medical Center are your pet advocates providing compassionate care for your furry friends!
