Believe it or not, dogs and cats are diagnosed with dental disease more than any other infection.  Nobody wants their pet suffering from a painful inflammatory condition in which bacteria attack the gingiva and bone tissues support the teeth.  Regular oral preventative care and dentistry can aid in removing harmful bacteria, plaque, and tartar that damages your pet’s teeth.  Infections in the mouth can also cause serious disease that can affect your pet’s vital organs (heart, kidneys, liver, etc.).

Like people, animals need professional teeth cleaning on a routine basis.  We will take care of removing plaque, tartar and any compromised teeth during a dental cleaning procedure.  Our dental radiography unit helps to diagnose tooth disease below the tooth.  This conveniently allows us to address any concerns while a dental is being performed on your pet.  The follow up and prevention you do at home is just as important (ie. brushing, appropriate chewing devices, and diet).

Home dental care can save your pet from irreversible oral/dental disease.  Research has shown that your pet’s overall health will improve with routine dental care, thereby decreasing illness and medical expenses.

Please consider one or more of the following to aid you in preventing dental disease in your pet.

Brushing

We have specially designed toothbrushes and finger brushes along with flavored pet safe toothpaste for your pets.  Avoid using human toothpaste because it can upset your pet’s stomach.

Topical treatments and/or Chews

Giving your pet appropriate chew toys and feeding them hard or coarse textured food can also help remove plaque.  If you cannot brush the teeth, we also have a spray/flush for plaque removal that is easy to administer.

If your pet displays any of the following clinical signs then serious periodontal disease may be present:
